Podcast #23: John Coleman - Ireland's Mortgage Champion

5/17/2020

In this podcast, I chat with John Coleman, who’s a mortgage lender in Dublin, Ireland. Although John is always humble and self-deprecating, I joke around by calling him "The Mortgage Champion" because I've witnessed how much he does to help his clients.

In fact, the real estate and mortgage system in Ireland is far different than  here in the United States, and a good mortgage lender wears a whole lot of hats.

The process of getting qualified for a mortgage, finding a home, and getting approved takes a whole lot longer, so buyers almost need to be groomed over months before they're ready.

(You'll be blown away by how incredibly stringent Ireland's credit standards are.)
Picture

Through the course of this enlightening 50-minute conversation with John, we explore these questions:

  • What's the real estate market like in Ireland?
  • How is Covid-19 affecting the market and economy?
  • How many people own a home in Ireland, and how has homeownership changed over time?
  • Why does Ireland have so many great business opportunities with notable international companies setting up shop there?
  • What are interest rates/down payments/qualifying standards like for Irish buyers?
  • There's also a significant contingent of foreigners who live in Ireland. In fact, 10% of the population is made of expats or foreigners who live there!
  • In fact, a lot of Americans head over to Ireland to work and live, enjoying the charm and slower pace of life. What do they find when trying to buy a home?

Tune to this podcast with John Coleman  - the Mortgage Champion of Ireland!

Podcast #22: Heart & Hustle w/ Cam Villa and Rene Jacques of Golden Bay Mortgage

5/11/2020

Today, I had the pleasure of chatting with Cam Villa and Rene Jacques of the Golden Bay Mortgage Group in Sacramento, California.

I actually heard of Cam and Rene and the great work they do long before I first was introduced to them, as Realtors, consumers, and others in the mortgage community raved about their innovative approach.

Their reputation may precede them, but they also exceeded my expectations when it comes to being at the top of their game. They may attack their day with an athlete’s mentality, but their expertise in the mortgage field and use of systems and efficiency would be the envy of any modern, tech-central firm.

Over our nearly-hour-long conversation, I found out a lot about Cam, Rene, and Golden Bay Mortgage, but mostly how they displayed HEART and HUSTLE day-in and day-out to benefit their clients.

Genuine, dedicated, balanced, and forthright, the best way I can characterize Cam and Rene is that I’d trust them with my own mother’s refinance!

To hear their story and get to know Rene and Cam of Golden Bay Mortgage, give this podcast a listen, a like, and thanks for sharing!

Podcast #21: The Last Laugh w/ Brent Gove of eXp Realty

4/30/2020

Brent Gove was already a real estate “lifer,” having grown up to parents in the business who moved the family from Southern California to Sacramento when he was a kid.

Brent joined the business eventually, too, and went on to success at ReMax and then Keller Williams that would make most agents envious.

But, in 2016, he saw that there was a brand new way of doing business that was going to soon revolutionize the industry, so he made the leap to eXp Realty where he started his own team.

At that time, the concept of virtual and cloud-based real estate organizations was foreign to traditionalists, and one broker even laughed in Brent’s face when Brent told him about his plans. Although Brent is careful to point out that the broker wasn’t being malicious at all, as well as the fact that ReMax and Keller Williams are both GREAT organizations with a lot to offer.

Picture
But Brent saw changes coming and had bigger goals: to build an actual business, not just be as good a his sales, transactions, or even team every year, and eXP allowed him to do that.

He’s spent the last three years pounding the pavement, telling tens of thousands of agents around the country about eXP, all the while maintaining an elite home sales team in Sacramento, California that’s on pace to out-out produce most of the other traditional real estate companies in California this year.

(Yes, you read that right - his own personal team will eclipse the sales of some of the leading firms in their entirety!)

Sure, the titanic commission checks are nice (he showed me one at my urging and I almost choked on my coffee!), but most importantly, Brent is having more fun than ever, helping a whole lot of people, - both homeowners and other agents, and building a business that will provide passive income long after he stops working or chooses to step back.

Which leads me to the question:
Who’s laughing now?!

Enjoy this podcast with Brent Gove of eXp Realty!

“The words you communicate determine the profitability of your business.”

That’s a powerful statement by Tom Bresnahan, speaking and presentation coach to the Hollywood stars.

Once an accomplished movie actor himself, Tom, who is originally from New York (and still a Mets fan), started using his acting and silver screen chops to coach other stars, then countless CEOs, business execs, and other public figures.

In this podcast/video, I have a fantastic conversation with Tom thanks to my friend Kelly Resendez, VP of a large mortgage company and president of Big Voices Rise and the Foundational to Sustainable Success.

Kelly is a stellar coach, presenter, and mentor, herself, and was kind enough to introduced me to Tom and host us on this call.

Through our chat, I learned how Tim’s coaching business is flourishing, as he digs deep to identify and remove stumbling blocks that affect our confidence and mindset, helping people step onto the biggest stage of their lives and absolutely NAIL IT!

In a world where public speaking is ranked ahead of dying as one of our top fears, the vast majority of us neglect our interpersonal communication skills.

But Tom’s sage mentoring doesn’t stop at speaking, as he works with people on all forms of messaging and different forms of communication, drawing on his deeper experience as a producer and writer in Hollywood,

Tom does all that and more, with the mission to help people find their authentic voice and realize their superstar potential to connect with people (and make the sale!)

According to his website, TomBresnahan.com, Tom will help you:

Podcast #19: The Mental Health Aspect of the Covid-19 Pandemic with Mike Shaldone

4/12/2020

It doesn't matter if you're a Realtor, mortgage lender, financial planner, police officer, or construction worker; these are some tough times.

The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting all of us, not just financially but especially taxing to our mental health.

(I'll admit that I'm definitely feeling it and welcome a check-up from the neck-up!)

In this podcast, I'm honored to chat with one of my old friends and a man who's always been solid as a rock in the community, Mike Shaldone.

I first met Mike when he was a financial planner, but he pulled a 180 and went back to get a degree and get certified in counseling because his passion was to help others.

Since then, he's worked in some of the toughest prisons in California and now as an addiction counselor in a halfway house, putting Mike is on the front lines of the mental heath crisis, social issues, and treating  our society's forgotten people.

Picture
Today, he discusses the mental health impact of the Coronavirus and stay-at-home orders, including how to deal with anxiety, depression, a lack of social connection, and other mental health issues.

Mike also outlines how we can all practice self-care and be healthier with the MEDS system: Meditation, Exercise, Diet, and Sleep.

But you don't need to be in and out of prison to benefit from Mike's counsel and care, as he's also launching several non-profits to catch those who have slipped through the cracks of our society.

Please remember that you need to be strong right now, both for your clients, your employees, your family, and your community. But that starts with taking good care of yourself, and talking about and nurturing your mental health is STRENGTH - not weakness.

Mike's got some really great insights and strategies to help us all during these tough times, so enjoy the podcast!

Thank you, Mike, and be well, everyone!

Podcast #18: Reinventing The Realtor/Lender Relationship with the Ultimate Business Partner

4/6/2020

If you're a Realtor, you probably have a whole list of mortgage lenders who are trying to get your business, offering to take you out to coffee, sending you useless swag, and promising the world in return.

You give them scores of leads and loans every year, but see very little in return.
Click below to watch. ⬇️
And if you're a mortgage lender, the opposite is true: you feel like you're always big-game hunting Realtors, pretending to have a deep, mutually-beneficial relationship (when you really don't), and scrambling to offer any shred of value so you can fill your pipeline with buyers.

Most would argue that the traditional Realtor/Lender relationship is broken, or, at least imbalanced and inefficient. The result is a lot of wasted time and a lot of potential income left on the table.

That is, until now, because this Realtor and mortgage lender, together with their business coach, formed a new system that reinvents the Realtor/Lender relationship.

Tune in to this special video podcast to learn from Brendan Donelson, Josh Anderson, and Dino Rosetti on how you can become the ultimate business partner and 10x your income next year!

Podcast #14: Jason Matthews on the Age of $elf Reliance

12/22/2019

In this podcast episode, we zoom out from talking about real estate and the mortgage market and focus on the economy on a macro level.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jason Matthews, an old friend and president of Matthews Financial & Insurance Services, an elite financial service firm in California's Bay Area.

Not only is Jason Matthews a financial guru and community advocate, but author of the book, The Age of $elf Reliance. Within those pages, Jason outlines why the next financial crash is inevitable, why it will be the worst Recession we've seen in our lifetimes - or even another Depression.

But Jason also documents how the average person can bulletproof their finances to not only survive but thrive during the upcoming financial downturn.

The Age of $elf Reliance is a great read for every Realtor, mortgage lender, or any average consumer or employee in America.

Enjoy the podcast with Jason Matthews of MFIS.biz and feel free to contact him with any questions!
